TUESDAY — FOLLOW THE STORY

READ

Genesis 2:4–4:26

Yesterday you watched God create and order the world. Today the story moves closer—to the man and woman, the garden, a command, a choice, and then life outside the garden.

Don't rush through the familiar stories. Follow what changes.

AS YOU READ

Pay attention to relationships:

God and humanity.

The man and the woman.

Humanity and the ground.

Cain and Abel.

Cain and God.

Ask yourself:

What was true at the beginning of this reading that is no longer true by the end?

LOOK BACK

When you reach Genesis 4, look back at Genesis 3.

Do you notice anything in Cain's story that sounds or feels familiar?

Look for repeated actions, questions, consequences, or patterns.

Write down what you notice before deciding what it means.

CLOSING

You are beginning to follow more than individual stories. You are watching a larger story develop. Tomorrow we will finish the Torah reading and ask where B'Reisheet has taken us.
