Leviticus 23:1–2

Before reading about Sukkot itself, notice how YHWH introduces all of His appointed times. He doesn't begin with what Israel wants to celebrate. He begins with something He has appointed.

Read Leviticus 23:1–2 slowly.

1. Who determines these appointed times?
2. Notice the repeated words "My appointed times" and "the appointed times of YHWH." What does that tell you about whose invitation this is?
3. How might your preparation change if you think of Sukkot not simply as a feast we observe, but as a time YHWH has appointed to meet with His people?
